The Weather Outside IS Frightful

The great town of Bend is experiencing a deep freeze and with the wind chill factor we're enjoying a balmy -8 temperature. Seriously. Go outside for more than 14 seconds and your nostrils freeze. It's that cold. Up to 8 inches more snow is expected and the kids are praying for another snow day tomorrow. The parents are not. My one thought today as I looked outside at the swirling snow was, 'why didn't I book a flight to Mexico for Christmas?' I can't decide what I prefer more. This....

Or this....

I do know that the kids can get creative in the snow and why pay outrageous fees at the local ski resort when you can have a snowboard ramp in your very own backyard. The boys built this last night. Jon started talking about the roof and trailers and jumping... I saw a trip to the ER so the boys had to settle for 'off the deck'. This is Jaketacular catching air off the jump. Sweet.

For those of you who would like to cast your vote for the No Fair Wear t-shirt saying, I've posted the poll on the sidebar. Have at it.

Hope you warm up, and that the kids enjoy their snowboard ramp safely.

I love the very first snow, then I'm done.

We are due to get an ice storm- they are predicitng it over the next couple of days--it will shut down the WHOLE town.

You look like you're enjoying yourself in both climates!

Bundle up, cuddle up.

I started a new job today!

Thanks Helen. Jon helped Jake build a bigger ramp. He'll do the driving to the ER... ;)

Sherri, so what's this new job? Spill the details!!

Annie,
First go to Bryan Allain's website.

Did you know you were a winner?

Beth said...

Cold and ice coming this way, too. BRRRRR. Yeah, Sherri, what is this new job??

Beth said...

Oh yeah...and I love the picture of Bozley with you two. I wanna hug him.

Annie K said...

Sherri, what a crack up. Who doesn't want to win a terrible gift. Just what every girl wants!

Beth, Boz is such a goof and he's the cuddliest dog. Maybe I'll bring him to the party...!

You can read all about it in my post tomorrow!

Beth, my comments won't go thru on your site!
Quit blocking me out!

Beth said...

Sherri,

I set my comments section up so that if you misspell words, your comments won't go through.

Just kidding....I don't know WHY they don't work!! I live for comments! I want Sherri comments!

Sherri said...

Beth,
This lilly white momma gonna' bring you down!

(yeah, now There's a t-shirt for ya'!)

Whoa, I go to bed and when I get up there's a full-on catfight on my blog. Girlz these days...

Hey Sherri, can you put a link to my blog when you mention the fantastic prize I won so that my hit increase a 1000 fold. I'm selfish that way. Thanks!

Annie K said...

Beth, that last comment to Sherri was priceless... 'I set my comments section up so that if you misspell words, your comments won't go through." See, you ARE funny.

;)

Actually, studies show that those with spelling issues are actually using the more creative side of their brain.

Sherri--your welcome.
Katdish--just imagine how creative you would be if you couldn't spell! And you are already the DaVinci of our group (as in "Leonardo", not "Code". God forbid "code")
Beth- That was funny. So was "security slanket" on your SCL comment. Annie is right, you are funny. It is just that us funny girls don't go around laughing at our own jokes (well, actually, I do, but I am rather odd...)
Annie- I need a link. I am not aware of Brian Allain's website (Don't tell that to him though. I hate making grown men cry.....)
Me- I am an excellent speller. Oh well, can't have everything....

Helen, here you go! http://bryanallain.com/blog/

Thank you Helen, my truest friend!

Annie K said...

Sherri, now I'm REALLY going to make your day...

Creative people are right-side-of-the-brain people. I'm left-sided. You've got the advantage! ;)

Sherri said...

I wonder how "creative " I can be with paperwork?

Usually people that are "creative with paperwork" end up in prison!

Oh well. I'm off to work!

I'll check back on my lunch hour.

*Hey, I don't think your voting thingy is working. I know that I personally voted like 15 times for the "Short" saying and it's only showin' 2 of them.

Have you blcked me here too?

I was just being creative!

Hey, now I know who he is! He is the guy who ticked Sherri off when he said something snarky about cheerleaders! Well, he seems to have learned his lesson!

sherri said...

Yes, but I forgave him.

Beth said...

A confession...

I am a terrible speller. But I'm such a perfectionist that I go to dictionary.com and check words I'm unsure about just to make sure they're spelled correctly. If I'm totally lost I will reword my sentence using a different word.

It takes me awhile to come up with my "funnies."

So between the two I think I stare at the computer roughly 23 hours a day.

I make many more mistakes typing than I do writing. Seriously.

I'm a horrible typist, trying to spead up the process because I hate to type. That is the REAL reason behind all the typos- I never check anything before I hit send--VERY stupid!

Annie K said...

Sherri, because I am such a true friend, I'm not going to be snarky and point out your typo. I'm just cool that way.

Sherri said...

I love you Annie. In France, they spell speed with the "ea" French spelling!

I was just using my French version,
IT WAS NOT A TYPO!

I need help with my sagging sidebar on my site! It has dropped to the bottom and I can't move it up. Any suggestions anybody?
Go there and tell me what to do if you have any ideas!

katdish said...

Oh, well heck. Here's where you guys were yesterday.

Annie - The "quote" I was talking about was the one I now have posted in my sidebar with the picture of my handy work on the windowsill.

Helen - Us funny girls do TOO go around laughing at our own jokes. I crack myself up! And DaVinci? No so much. Unless you're talking about Pablo DaVinci - the guy who painted those sad kids and dogs with the giant watery eyes.

Beth - HA! HA! Love the comments section question.

Sherri - "Have you blcked me here too?" I'm not even gonna comment on the misspelled word because I would literally wear my fingers out if I commented every time that happens. But no, Annie's not blocking you. You can only vote once. (This isn't Illinois for goodness sake!)

And NO THANK YOU VERY MUCH with the cold weather. It was 40 degrees here today and I thought I was gonna just DIE! (But it's not the cold, it's the humidity...)

Annie K said...

Katdish, I have 18 pairs of 'mucklucks' - I'll send you some to brave the cold. If you don't know what those are...you live too far east(!). (I'd kill for 40 degree temps!)

Sherri, I had no idea you spoke French.

Helen said...

Katdish, if you are so eager to take pot shots at IL, how about commenting on my post "Take My Governor, Please". It is totally feeling left out of the comment action here today.
WV Gartio- I am drawing a blank.

Blagojevich: he puts the "ill" in Illinois!

Annie K said...

Helen, THAT one was t-shirt worthy!!
